From Poland Through Europe to Palestine 1945
The Sage of Nathan is the continuation of Nathan and the Lions of Lodz,
about a group of teenagers who live in the forest of Las Lagienwnicki
and fight the German war effort. This novel contains two exhilarating
installments of Nathan Kochinski's adventures as they continue after
World War II. In "An Odyssey to Liberation," many couples from the Lions
of Lodz travel to Palestine after the war ends. Their courageous trip
is no less than thrilling as they travel across Europe from Poland by
land, water, and air to reach Palestine despite British efforts to
inhibit them. The struggle for freedom does not end once arriving there.
After settling on a kibbutz, the couples continue to fight as they join
the underground army, the Haganah, to defend against Arab attacks. In
"An Epitome of Leadership," Nathan Kochinski's skills as a leader
continue to shine. After traveling to Palestine and joining the Haganah,
Nathan is promoted to the rank of captain. While proving himself to be a
great leader, he sees the lack of communication and organization
between other settlements near his kibbutz and proposes his company as
the mobile reserve of the area. Nathan becomes known as a soldier of
great talent, and is soon appointed as the liaison officer to David Ben
Gurion, the director of the Jewish Agency for Security Policy. Nathan's
adventures as he fights for Jews in Palestine continue throughout the
establishment of the State of Israel.
