Yeshiva Zichron Melech was founded by Rav Chaim Leib Epstein, a long-time talmid of Rav Aharon Kotler.

He was very involved in issues of the klal, and his position was usually that talmud torah k'neged kulam. He was very involded with his bochurim and is was said that he had a personal kesher with all of his talmidim. He also had a lot of baal habatim who swear by him, and considered him to be their godol.
